Varicella-Zoster Antibodies, IgG Blood Test

Use:
This test is used to diagnose the Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) and can determine if you are susceptible to the infection as an adult. It verifies a past infection or detects a recent infection. VZV is a herpesvirus that causes two rash-associated diseases: Chicken Pox (varicella) and shingles (herpes zoster).

Chickenpox is usually contracted at a young age and is highly contagious. However, this virus remains dormant and may resurface in adulthood as shingles, which is an extremely painful condition that can occur in adults who are not immune to VZV.

Diagnosing infection with Varicella Zoster Virus, assessing recovery status.
