The tire was designed using Pirelli's knowledge and experience gathered from Formula 1 racing. It is an original equipment tire for select BMW vehicles.This tire is a run flat model. It was manufactured with a reinforced construction that maintains the ideal tire shape under the weight of the vehicle and its passengers and enables the tire's limited temporary performance after air pressure loss. Once air pressure leaves the tire, it can still be driven on for 50 miles up to 50 mph. This enables the vehicle to safely arrive to a nearby location where the tire can be fixed or changed.
