He then went on to form the hip-hop jazz trio, The Smile Rays while also holding down DJ duties for The Perceptionists, simultaneously releasing his solo debut on Tres Records in 2009. In 2013, he co-founded FULL PLATE with Dillon Maurer where he would oversee and release multiple projects including his soul duo, Stono Echo. In the late 2010's, Paten joined forces with Edan and they toured the globe as one of the most beloved live rap shows in the industry. Paten Locke passed in August of 2019, but he was able to dictate his final wishes for his vast catalog of unreleased and unfinished music.
