A native of Eastern Kentucky, she grew up hearing folk tales, ghost 'haint' tales, Jack tales and Cherokee legends. She attended a one-room elementary school; has a BA in history education; MS in health education; and is an ordained minister of religion. She is recognized as a Kentucky folk artist in the oral tradition and she presents storytelling concerts; educational programs; professional development workshops and performs as the historical pioneer, Jenny Wiley. Her professional affiliations include the Kentucky Arts Council, KY Storytelling Association, KY Writers Coalition, National Storytelling Network, and the Southern Arts Federation.
