Mummydogs - Mummydogs - COMPACT DISCS Mummydogs formed in northern California several times between 1996 and 2000. They named themselves after the frankfurters that go round and round at the mini-market and are never purchased. First they learned the theme song for the '60s cartoon show King Kong. Like their namesake, it was funny and sad and kind of Egyptian. Following detours through BARRY WHITE, ENNIO MORRICONE, delta blues and cracker country, Mummydogs developed a grungy melodic pop sound laced with maracas and feedback. Paul Takushi (drums) and Cary Rodda (bass) build a corral for Guy Kyser's overheated acoustic guitar and Johanna Kyser's rumbling keyboard.
