This product is ideal for mountain bikers looking to optimize their suspension setup without needing to invest in new shocks. Below is a detailed review of its key features, benefits, and potential drawbacks.

Key Features

  • Compatibility: The kit is specifically designed for MRP Enduro SL and Progressive springs, allowing them to be used with Fox DHX2 shocks that have a maximum stroke of 65mm.
  • Spacer Dimensions: The kit includes two spacers—a short spacer measuring 4mm and a tall spacer measuring 8mm, resulting in an overall effective length of 12mm when installed.
  • Spring Seat Dimensions: The external diameter of the spring seat is 1.475” (37.5mm), and the internal diameter of the shock seat/preload collar is 1.45” (36.8mm), ensuring a snug fit.
  • Pre-load Adjustment: Long spring spacers are included to provide additional pre-load options, allowing riders to fine-tune their suspension feel.

Benefits

  • Enhanced Compatibility: This kit allows riders to use MRP springs with Fox shocks, broadening their options for spring rates and suspension performance.
  • Improved Suspension Performance: By optimizing spring preload, users can achieve a more responsive and controlled ride, especially on challenging terrain.
  • Easy Installation: The spacers are straightforward to install, making it accessible for riders who may not have extensive mechanical experience.

Potential Drawbacks

  • Specific Compatibility: While the kit is designed for specific models, it may not be compatible with all spring rates, particularly those over 500 lb/in, which could limit its use for some riders.
  • Additional Measurements Required: Users need to measure their shocks and consult the spring length data to determine if spacers are necessary, which could be a barrier for less experienced riders.

Comparison to Similar Products

When compared to similar products on the market, the MRP Rear Shock Spring Spacers stand out due to their specific design for MRP springs and Fox DHX2 shocks. Many competing products offer universal compatibility, which may not provide the same tailored performance benefits. Additionally, the quality and precision in the manufacturing of MRP spacers often lead to better fit and performance compared to generic alternatives.

Practical Tips for Use

  • Check Compatibility: Before installation, ensure that your shock and spring rates are compatible with the spacers to avoid any performance issues.
  • Fine-Tuning Suspension: Experiment with different combinations of spacers to find the optimal preload for your riding style and terrain.
  • Regular Maintenance: Periodically check the installation of the spacers to ensure they remain secure and effective during rides.

Complementary Products

Customers often purchase the following products alongside the MRP Rear Shock Spring Spacers:

  • MRP Enduro SL and Progressive Springs: These springs are designed to work seamlessly with the spacers, enhancing overall suspension performance.
  • Shock Pump: A high-quality shock pump is essential for adjusting air pressure and preload in conjunction with the spring spacers for optimal performance.
