Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino is ruby red. The nose expresses notes of citrus fruit and fresh red fruit especially cherries and strawberries, together with pleasant hints of lavender and tobacco. The palate is fresh and fruity with vibrant tannins that accompany a long, savory finish, closing with a floral aftertaste. A focused beam of black cherry, cassis and violet flavors permeates this tensile red. Mineral and wild scrub notes add depth as this builds to the long, fruity and savory aftertaste. A salty element lingers. Best from 2029 through 2045. The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with a pretty blend of citrus-tinged blackberries, violets and sweet spice. Textures of pure silk and cooling acidity beautifully complement racy red and black fruits. I love the momentum and purity here.
