Full Product Description (From the manufacturer)

A singular expression of Cabernet Sauvignon that hails from a historic jewel box vineyard; "Tychson Hill," named after Josephine Tychson, was the first of two vineyards purchased by Colgin in the 1990s. Ideally situated in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains, just north of St. Helena, containing some of the rarest volcanic soil found in the Napa Valley, "Tychson Hill" has long been celebrated for its ethereal qualities, as well as floral notes, and red fruit distinguishable in every vintage. Tychson Hill is fermented in stainless steel and aged for approximately 20 months in 60% new French oak. This east-facing site sits at the base of Spring Mountain, across from Freemark Abbey, and in 2023, it is gorgeously fragrant, offering tobacco spice, blackcurrant, black cherry, and blackberry fruit layered with rich, loamy earth notes. On the palate, it is super-polished and expressive, shaped by wonderfully marbled tannins that possess a smooth, chiselled quality - glossy yet precise. Cocoa powder nuances build steadily alongside vibrant violet florals and hints of sagebrush, carrying through to a lengthy, mineral-driven finish. Situated on the western side of Saint Helena, on the slopes west of Highway 29, this once-tiny vineyard (2.4 acres) has been expanded to cover 6.2 acres. Composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon (the balance is planted to Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot), Colgin's 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill marries hints of mint and dark chocolate to black cherries. Full-bodied and richly tannic, it delivers both ample structure and a long velvety finish. Twenty years may prove to be a conservative estimate of its aging potential.Rating: 98+ The aromas of basalt and volcanic soil are so intense, with dark berries and a hint of red currants. Full-bodied but tight and poised, with chewy tannins that are integrated and melted in the wine. Solid and savory at the end, verging on meaty. Drink after 2029.
