Deep ruby red in color with purple highlights, Girolamo offers sumptuous aromas of black raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, sweet spice, and vanilla with hints of chocolate and dried herbs. On the palate, Girolamo has a soft and silky texture, backed by sweet, firm tannins ending with a long, fruit-laden finish.Serve with rosemary pork roast with berry port wine sauce. This is sophisticated and refined, with aromas of blackberries, spices, smoke, lavender, licorice, black olives and a hint of balsamic. Medium-bodied with excellent structure and tannins and a long and rather endless finish. Pure merlot as always. The 2022 Girolamo is terrific. Merlot does so well here, in the southern slopes of Castelnuovo Berardenga. Black cherry, liquorice, cloves, menthol and chocolate are all dialed up. This opulent, polished Merlot is impeccably done.
